FAQ
General
What is a giclée art print and what does this mean for the quality?
“Giclée” refers to a high standard of printing where the art prints are produced using pigment based inks and archival, cotton rag paper. Prints of this high quality will typically last for at least 25 years without fading or yellowing. Due to the cotton rag nature of the paper it is not unusual to see small white dots on the prints. The white dots are usually only noticeable on very close inspection, and are generally not noticeable when framed behind glass and hung. The colours on our prints are surprisingly vibrant and we have received a huge amount of praise for the quality of the prints. It took us nearly a year to find the printer we wanted to work with and we are incredibly proud of the results.
Are the prints delicate?
You do need to handle any prints you purchase carefully. Giclée prints are printed with a very fine spray of ink over the paper surface, so throughout the framing process or when unpacking your prints do not touch the surface of the print at all. You could easily scratch or scuff the design. We cannot be held responsible for any damage done to prints once they are in your care.
What are 'A' paper sizes?
The A series of paper sizes is an international standard, used widely in the UK, Europe and many other countries internationally. You can find more information about this on our print sizes page.
Do you have any tips for framing?
Yes we do! Visit our dedicated framing tips page which recommends some framers we work with plus general things to think about when choosing a frame.
Can I order a custom print size?
Yes, we are happy to accommodate different dimensions to the standard sizes offered. Please get in touch to let us know your request and we can provide a quote. Any custom sizes will be added to our monthly print order from our supplier and so delivery times for custom orders will be longer than our usual service.
Do you do commissions?
At quieter times we can accommodate requests for custom design work, but this does depend very much on our workload. If you have a design in mind and some reference photos please get in touch and we'll let you know if it's possible. We will quote based on the standard price of the print size you want plus an additional charge per hour of design time.
Can you trim down the white border?
Yes where some customers have needed a small amount trimmed off the white border we have been happy to do this. Just contact us before you order to double check this is possible for the design and size you would like. If not possible we can advise on ordering in a custom size print.
Stock Levels
What should I do if the print I want is out of stock?
We usually re-stock our prints once per month. If the print you want to buy is not in stock in the size you want, please contact us and we can advise you when it will be back in stock.
How do I order an A1 or A0 size?
Please contact us with your location so we can give you a quote for the print and postage costs. When packaged the prints are larger than a standard parcel size and so incur increased postage costs, especially when posting outside of the UK. Once the price is confirmed we will send you a link to purchase the print through.

What are the changes for European orders since Brexit?
Since the UK's exit from the European Union, free movement of goods has ceased and a trade agreement between the UK and the EU is now in effect This means that for orders under €150 customers are likely to be charged import tax of between 19% and 25% of the order value plus a handling fee from the postal service/courier.
For orders over €150, customers are likely to be charged import tax (between 19-25% of the order value), a handling fee from the courier and an additional customs charge.
The buyer is responsible for any customs duties, VAT, import taxes or courier handling fees that may apply on delivery. The prices you see on our website do not include these additional import fees.
