Our popular "Bear Essentials" art design is now available on premium cream and grey enamel mugs. The design is laser etched in Cornwall on to durable cups which can withstand direct heat from a campfire, gas flame or beach BBQ. Make a cuppa, cook your porridge or enjoy hot soup from your cup!

It recalls the simple and bold vintage surf prints of the 1960s and early 1970s. The nature of the artwork means that it would make an ideal gift for a surfer, but would also be perfect for anyone who is a fan of retro style or needs a great mug for their camping trips!

The mug measures 9cm in width, 8 cm tall and has a volume of 300ml. The main engraved section on the side of the mug measures 40mm x 55mm. The mugs are made of durable steel with enamel coating, they are oven-safe up to 530°F / 270°C and dishwasher safe too. Unfortunately they are not freezer-proof and should not be microwaved.

Framing tips

Open tab

Whilst we don't offer a framing service we can give some good tips when it comes to framing your new prints:

Buying from the high street

In the UK "A" paper sizes are a standard size, see our dropdown on paper sizes for the exact dimensions. You should be able to find standard frames on the high street for A paper sizes, although you may be restricted to simple white or black frames and they may not be the best quality / designed to last long-term.

Supporting local framers

We would always recommend talking to a local framer and supporting a local small business. The framers we know are professionals who can advise on how thick you might want your frame, whether you need a mount (or matt in the US) and how thick this should be to complement the print and frame. The mount and frame can be customised in terms of colours too and of course you could go with a natural wood colour of which there are lots of options. If you've seen something you like, for example a frame on one of our web pages, why not screenshot the image and send to your framer to replicate.

We recommend The Banana Shed Framing Company in Penryn, Cornwall and The Frame Shop in Braunton, North Devon if you're lucky enough to live local to either of these two areas.

Lastly...

Think about the size of the space you wish to fill. If it's a large space and you've bought a smaller print you can fill more space with a wide mount and a chunky frame. If it's a small space, no mount and a thin frame may suit you better.

It's also worth noting all our prints include a small white border with the design inset inside this, so you can choose not to include a mount as the print will look good in a frame without a mount. We personally think a mount adds a bit more style though.

If you have bought a frame and the print needs trimming down slightly to fit in, make sure you measure very carefully, draw on guides of where to cut with a pencil and take it slow. You can't add paper back on if you cut too much off!
